Kosovo plans cable car: Feasibility study completed
The cable car project in Prizren (Kosovo) has completed the feasibility study and is in the final phase of preparations for a building permit. This was reported by the portal Reporteri, citing the Mayor of Prizren, Shaqir Totaj.
He emphasized that the cable car could become a new pillar of the city’s economic and tourist development, connecting the city center with the fortress of Prizren in a modern and sustainable way.
“This project is a tourist attraction for Kosovo, not just for Prizren. It will provide another reason for domestic and international tourists to visit our historic city year-round,” Totaj said.
The cable car in Prizren is planned to be built in collaboration with the Directorate for Development and Cooperation, the Ministry of Environment, Spatial Planning and Infrastructure, and the Regional Center for Cultural Heritage.
Details
According to koha.net, the cable car is planned to run from the city center to the fortress of Prizren and is estimated to cost between 3.5 and 5 million euros.
As indeksonline reports, there are several possibilities for financing the project: using city funds, implementing it through a public-private partnership, or handing it over to a private investor who would fully construct it and operate it over a long usage period.
“I am very optimistic that we will make this project a reality,” Totaj said.
