A cable car for the temple

To enhance religious tourism in the city, the Mata Chintpuri Temple is set to be connected with a cable car. The 1.1-kilometer-long cable car aims to simplify access to the temple and strengthen the existing infrastructure.

The Mata Chintpurni Temple holds historical and spiritual significance in India. Currently situated in the Himachal Pradesh district, the temple is accessible only via a single-lane road from the Baba Mai Dass Bhawan parking lot.

During larger religious events, this road experiences regular congestion.

A cable car is envisioned to address this issue, with the capacity to transport 700 people per hour in each direction, facilitating the journey to the temple. The estimated cost for the cable car project is 76.50 Crore Rupees (approximately eight million euros).

Cable Car for Tourism Promotion

Himachal Pradesh boasts a significant number of historical temples. Sukhvinder Singh Sukh, Chief Minister of Himachal Pradesh, aims to expand temple tourism, with cable cars playing a crucial role in his vision.

Hence, not only the Mata Chintpurni Temple but also other shrines are planned to be connected, according to Sukh. The cable car project is part of the district’s goal to welcome five million tourists annually to the Himachal Pradesh region in India.
