The renovation and redesign of the mountain station lasted until May 2024.<\/p>\n<p>Existing attractions were enhanced, and new ones were created, such as a large visitor terrace and the \u201cSky ladder\u201c as a new glass-bottomed viewing highlight. Reason enough for an interview with Georg Bliem, CEO of Planai-Hochwurzen-Bahnen.<\/p>\n<h4>SI: What were the reasons for the reconstruction?<\/h4>\n<p><strong>Georg Bliem:<\/strong> We began considering how to redesign the aging mountain station seven years ago. Detailed preparations started two years ago. Construction began on September 6, 2023.<\/p>\n<h4>To what extent does the project encompass existing attractions?<\/h4>\n<p>The new building structure, featuring a lot of glass and stone, is designed to bring the majestic Dachstein landscape indoors. Together with Ars Electronica Solutions, we are highlighting panoramic views even more impressively. Also new are a restaurant terrace and a caf\u00e9 lounge. Additionally, a conference room was being created.<\/p>\n<h4>What about the restaurant?<\/h4>\n<p>The restaurant area offers a central 280-degree view of the magnificent alpine nature. Special features include a huge Dachstein stone in the center and a large mountaineer\u2018s table. It is eight meters wide, and the walking time is one hour.<\/p>\n<h4>Ski operations were discontinued in 2023. What is the focus now?<\/h4>\n<p>We are emphasizing experiencing nature, the panorama, and the glacier. We see great potential for this even in winter.
