It serves as a supplement to the transportation network until the road bridge, destroyed by the Fregnoley stream, is rebuilt\u2014and demonstrates how quickly urban cable cars can be implemented.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"320\" data-end=\"594\">In July 2024, severe storms hit the region. Heavy rainfall led to flooding, landslides, and debris flows that caused significant damage in the valley. The bridge on the cantonal road between Lourtier and Sarreyer was washed away, cutting off Sarreyer from the outside world.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"596\" data-end=\"861\" data-is-last-node=\"\">Since then, the village could only be accessed via a forestry road, the Route du Soleil. According to Google Maps, the drive between the villages of Champsec and Sarreyer takes about 26 minutes. It operates on a fixed schedule and ensures connections to the bus line Le Ch\u00e2ble \u2013 Lourtier. In Champsec, parking spaces are also available for the residents of Sarreyer.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"289\" data-end=\"561\" data-is-last-node=\"\">The construction of the cable car took five months. By comparison, the rebuilding of the road is expected to take about 18 to 24 months. The start of construction is planned for spring 2026.
