But not in Wroc\u0142aw, Poland: there, the Technical University opted for a compact cable car.<\/p>\n<p>Since 2013, the \u201cPolinka\u201d has connected the new campus on the west side of the Oder River with the \u201cold\u201d university grounds on the east bank.<\/p>\n<h3>Busiest compact cable car<\/h3>\n<p data-start=\"147\" data-end=\"342\">Of the 32,000 students and 4,200 staff, up to 2,100 use the Polinka daily. In addition, around 900 tourists and local residents take advantage of the ride on INAUEN-SCH\u00c4TTI\u2019s compact cable car.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"344\" data-end=\"537\">Over twelve years, this has added up to roughly 500,000 trips \u2013 an average of 114 trips per day.<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>\u201cThe Polinka is the busiest compact cable car we\u2019ve built, which made the 2025 revision project especially exciting for us,\u201d says <strong>Johann Schiesser<\/strong>, Technical Officer for Service &amp; Despite the heavy use, the installation was very clean and well maintained, and wear was minimal.\u201d<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"394\" data-end=\"552\">Still, the standard six- and twelve-year revisions needed to be carried out \u2013 and for that, INAUEN-SCH\u00c4TTI AG, the compact cable car expert, was brought in.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"554\" data-end=\"762\">Johann Schiesser managed the planning and project coordination from Switzerland. He organized spare parts logistics, the transport of tools (such as hoists and cable drums), and handled customs formalities.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"764\" data-end=\"878\">On site, a service technician supervised the work for a month, supported for two weeks by two cable specialists.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"880\" data-end=\"968\">At all times, staff from DOPPELMAYR Poland and the operator assisted with the project.<\/p>\n<\/div><style type=\"text\/css\">.fusion-builder-row .fusion-layout-column.gradient-column-7 .fusion-column-wrapper:before {content: \"\"; The old rope had reached the end of its service life due to heavy use,\u201d says Schiesser.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"302\" data-end=\"473\">The new 20-millimeter haul rope was spliced by an expert from the manufacturer FATZER together with the entire team. Finally, the fully overhauled cabins were installed.<\/p>\n<h3>Deadline for the semester start<\/h3>\n<p data-start=\"514\" data-end=\"688\">\u201cDespite the extensive work, we were able to complete the revision within four weeks, working closely with all helpers \u2013 and still had some buffer time,\u201d reports Schiesser.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"690\" data-end=\"911\">The deadline was set to coincide with the start of the university semester. Without the cable car, students and staff would have faced a twenty-minute detour across a bridge, disrupting teaching and research activities.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"913\" data-end=\"1119\">\u201cThe compact cable car system really helped here. Its compact design also keeps maintenance manageable,\u201d says Schiesser.
