Granada: Sulayr-Project – a cable car from the spanish city to the mountains

Around 230,000 people live in the Spanish city of Granada. The Andalusian university city, home to the famous UNESCO World Heritage site “La Alhambra,” is the gateway to the Sierra Nevada – a popular mountain region. However, this also brings traffic problems between Granada and the tourist resort of Pradollano. The mobility project “Sulayr” aims to address this with a cable car as part of the solution.

Urban ropeway near Paris opens.

On 13 December, the urban ropeway Câble C1 welcomed its first passengers. The approximately 4.5-kilometre ropeway line extends Metro Line 8, improving the connection of the southern suburbs of Paris to the Île-de France transport network. The region thus gains a sustainable transport solution that meets all criteria of urban mobility and the requirements of the local transport authority Île-de-France Mobilités (IDFM).

Zurich: Garaventa modernizes Rigiblick funicular

The Rigiblick funicular is not only a landmark of the Swiss metropolis of Zurich but also fully integrated into the public transport network of Verkehrsbetriebe Zürich (VBZ). On their behalf, the cable car manufacturer GARAVENTA, part of the DOPPELMAYR Group, has comprehensively modernized the more than 120-year-old line. The focus was on new, barrier-free vehicles, modern technology, and greater comfort for passengers.

Tizi Ouzou: cable car by POMA – the second one

The urban cable car of the Algerian city of Tizi Ouzou has proven exemplary reliability of 98 percent since 2020 and carries more than 3.7 million passengers per year without serious incidents. Now, the line is being expanded with two additional sections: the French manufacturer POMA is currently constructing the “Tizi II” 10-seater gondola lift.
