The German federal government's €500 billion infrastructure package could give new momentum to a funicular railway in the major city of Munich. Transport planner Thomas Kantke has resumed his work. The political window for continuing the project is opening once again.

The idea of a funicular railway in the German city of Munich is getting a second chance. Due to the pandemic between 2020 and 2022, Thomas Kantke and his team of engineers had to pause their planning.
