Green light for the Loser panorama lift

As reported by ORF and the "Kleine Zeitung", the Supreme Cableway Authority granted approval for the new cableway in Styria. Construction work is to start as early as July.

A cable car to the Loser in Altaussee, in the Liezen district, has been planned for a long time. Now, the project has been granted the building permit. The construction of the new facility is expected to cost around 30 million euros. Starting from late summer 2024, it will replace the two aging chairlifts. This year, the mountain and middle stations will be built, and the foundations for the lift pylons will also be poured.

The Loser cable car will accommodate ten people and transport 1,800 passengers per hour. The cable car is intended as a year-round offering for tourists and will operate in both winter and summer. The implementation of the cable car will be carried out by the Swiss manufacturer BARTHOLET.

No environmental impact assessment required

Although requested by “Dialog Lebenswertes Altaussee,” a local party in the municipality, no environmental impact assessment is necessary for the construction of the cable car in the Liezen district. Only the conventional approval procedures under cable car regulations had to be followed. These procedures have now been completed.
