Florida relies on snow powder

Around Pasco County (Florida), the temperature is over 20 degrees all year round. It is therefore all the more surprising that this has recently become the location of Florida’s first snow park.

The Snowcat Ridge Alpine Snow Park in Dade City offers visitors a snow tubing hill and a Village with an indoor area in the form of an igloo. Creating the feeling of a snowy winter landscape in sunny Florida required lengthy planning; indeed, it took over a year to get authentic-looking artificial snow onto the hill for the snow tubing slope. Magic carpets take the visitors up the mountain and they can then slide down the snowy slopes either singly or in tandem. In a large snow dome (Arctic Igloo), the visitors can then build snowmen and snow castles in real snow.
