NSAA President Steps Down
Mike Reitzell, President and CEO of the National Ski Areas Association (NSAA), is stepping down from his position at the helm of the North American ski area association. He provides his reasons in the following statement:
“Over the past two years, my wife Kristen and I have navigated significant health issues within our family, including difficult news more recently.
Those experiences have given us a different perspective on our priorities and how we want to spend our time in the years ahead. With two young children, we’re increasingly mindful of how precious these years are and the importance of making more room for family.”

Mike Reitzell, President of the National Ski Area Association (NSAA), speaks in an SI interview about the dynamics in the US ski market, ski subscription models, youth development, and how mountain resorts are becoming fit for the future.
“I’m incredibly proud of what’s been accomplished at NSAA these past two years. Together, we’ve strengthened relationships across the industry, advanced important initiatives, challenged the status quo, and built meaningful momentum for the future. Change isn’t always easy, but I believe it’s essential to moving organizations and industries forward.
I’m excited for what’s ahead at NSAA, and confident in the foundation we’ve built for its future. As for me, the ski industry has been my life’s passion, and that isn’t changing. While I’m stepping away from this role, I’m certainly not stepping away from the industry or the people who make it so special. My work in this industry and shaping its future is far from over, and I look forward to the years ahead.”

We wish him and his family well during a difficult time. The Board will soon begin a search for NSAA’s next leader.”
