Genua plans urban ropeway

The port city of Genoa in Italy, plans to build a gondola. The project is scheduled to begin at the end of summer 2023 with a route of about 2.2 kilometers and three stations.

The contract for the planned ropeway has been awarded to Doppelmayr Italy. Simone Tomelleri, Commercial Director of Doppelmayr Italia, presented the project at the Navigation, Transport & Intermodal Forum.

The line is about 2.2 kilometers long and divided into two more or less similar sections and three stations: the downstream one in Principe, the middle one in Lagaccio and the upstream one near Forte Begato.

Work to start in summer

The project start for the new gondola is scheduled for summer 2023. Two supports are planned for the first phase, one at the level of the local health authority, the other on the site of the former Gavoglio barracks,
