Paris: Double Award for the Câble 1

The first cable car system in the Greater Paris region has received two major distinctions: it was awarded the Special Jury Prize by the Regional Association of Public Works Contractors and has also officially obtained environmental certification.

The Câble C1 cable car project in Paris has received two awards at the annual congress of the French Mayors’ Association, according to Île-de-France Mobilités, the public transport authority for the Paris region.

“High Environmental Quality” Certification

One of the distinctions is the French High Environmental Quality (HQE) certification, a nationally recognized sustainability label. As the first cable car system in the Greater Paris region and the longest urban cable car in Europe, Câble C1 is a key element of Île-de-France Mobilités’ strategy to develop environmentally friendly and interconnected transport solutions.

The system will operate entirely on carbon-neutral electricity. In addition, its limited ground footprint helps preserve the surrounding landscape and natural environment.

Both the planning and construction phases were assessed and certified according to strict environmental and social criteria. The design phase received certification in 2022, while the construction site was certified at the end of 2025.

More than 1.5 million passengers

have used the new cable car system since its opening, as of the end of May.

Special Jury Prize

The “Local Investment Awards” are presented annually in France to infrastructure projects that significantly improve quality of life for local communities while also minimizing environmental impact.

This year, the cable car project impressed the jury across the board. Câble 1 received the prestigious Special Jury Prize.

According to the Regional Association of Public Works Contractors of Île-de-France, the system is considered a flagship project and a benchmark for future sustainable transport infrastructure in the region.
