Bartholet – Ski fun with a sea view in Croatia

First BARTHOLET system on the popular Croatian sport mountain.

The ski resort in the small town of Platak is located around half an hour from the port city of Rijeka and Risnjak National Park. Because of its location, the ski resort stands out from many other destinations; here, you can weave your way down the slopes and enjoy the sea view at the same time.

Goranski Sportski Centar d.o.o. therefore wanted to make perfect use of the mountain’s potential and has taken care to combine comfort and function.

As such, a 4-person chairlift from Swiss manufacturer BARTHOLET with local representative and consortium partner STRUCON d.o.o. now concludes the major investment cycle of recent years. The installation is around 880 metres long and will have a transport capacity of 2,400 people per hour.

The Croatian ski resort operates both in the winter and in the summer, which is why the installation must meet the demands not only of winter sports enthusiasts; hikers and bikers also need to be able to enjoy full travel comfort when they use it.

Of the 114 vehicles, 20 therefore have two cycle racks. It is therefore guaranteed that sportspeople and sports equipment can be carried up the mountain in summer and winter alike.

Alen Udovic, Director of Platak mountain railways (RSRTC Platak), is delighted: “Construction of this modern cable car completes the major investment cycle in the regional sports, recreational and tourist centre of RSRTC Platak, which will become a key part of the tourist and recreational events in Croatia and the region.”

The mountain sports resort, as the year-round destination region is also known, therefore invites visitors to come and stay in summer and winter alike. However, as in many other ski resorts, the main visitor season is in the winter.

The construction period for the BARTHOLET chairlift will therefore be established in the winter season. The construction time for all the work is 17 months.

Preliminary work began at the start of September, although a winter break between December and March is already scheduled into the timetable, when the ski resort should be available to winter sportspeople with no limitations.

BARTHOLET Head of Sales & Marketing Daniel Fässer says: “We are delighted to be constructing a fantastic chairlift together with the customer and, through this partnership, to gain our first BARTHOLET reference installation in Croatia.” tm
