Powder Mountain is expanding for the 2026/2027 winter season.

"New lifts, more terrain, unbelievably uncrowded skiing:" This is how the Powder Mountain ski resort in Utah is promoting its investments for the upcoming winter season. Specifically, plans include a new construction project, a chairlift upgrade, and the brand-new Sundown Lodge.

1000+ New Acres of Advanced Terrain

The new DMI Lift unlocks 1,000+ acres and 2,200 feet of vertical, previously available only through a guided backcountry tour. This steep, technical terrain is located in the Wolf Creek Canyon zone.

DMI is among the steepest lifts Skytrac has constructed, turning this extreme terrain into a lift-accessible area. Open glades, chutes, steep lines; it’s the perfect expansion for all expert skiers. The DMI Lift is expected to start spinning for the 2026/27 season.

Faster Lift = More Laps

Sundown Express is a brand-new high-speed quad that is replacing the old Sundown fixed-grip quad. This new chair will cut down ride time and increase uphill capacity, enhancing both day and night skiing experience. The Sundown Express Lift is expected to start spinning for the 2026/27 season.

This summer the ski resort is breaking ground on a new 15,000 sq ft lodge at Sundown base. The facility will be home to the Powder Mountain Ski & Ride School, equipment rentals, food and beverage, lockers, and guest services.

This new lodge will provide a central hub for gathering and socializing on the mountain. The new Sundown Lodge is expected to open for the 2027/28 season
