First cable car in Uzbekistan

In Zomin, Uzbekistan, BARTHOLET recently built a detachable 8-seater gondola. It is the first installation of the Swiss manufacturer in the Central Asian country. The cable car combines modern comfort with technical sophistication.

Picturesque landscapes, ancient pilgrimage sites, pure mountain air, and a unique state-owned resort: All of this is Zomin – locally known as „Zaamin“ – an urban settlement in the Jizzakh region of Uzbekistan.

Here, in the midst of the Uzbek National Park, a new resort and ski area is currently being developed. It is located at an altitude of around 2,500 meters.

With the comfortable 8-seater gondola from BARTHOLET in a design by Porsche Design Studio, a total of up to 1,200 people can now be transported to the mountain every hour.

The cable car covers a height difference of 530 meters and a distance of 2,102 meters, with a total capacity of 36 gondolas. A ride takes about 7.40 minutes at a speed of five meters per second.

„We are proud to present our first installation in Uzbekistan,“ says CEO Roland Bartholet.

The facility is already in operation and has been providing both residents and tourists with a unique experience and new access since its launch. In addition, the facility contributes to increasing the tourism potential of this region.
