Since it was founded in 1954, the aim of the company has been to create new products from various kinds of resilient elastomers.
Among other things, ISOPREN manufactures, rubber sheave liners for rope- guide rollers, expansion joints, cylinders and roller coatings, anti-abrasive coatings for pumping components, and customised products in a wide variety of elastomers.
The product range has been enriched and expanded over the years and, through cooperation with customers, the company has developed a wealth of experience in a number of sectors, including: food, textiles, drilling fluid transportation and cable cars.
Thanks to its technical department and its own state-of-the-art laboratory, the company is able to be self-sufficient in the development of new products and to meet the most demanding technological challenges. since 1995, ISOPREN has operated under conditions that are com- pliant with IS0 9001, and since 2016 it has complied with the 2015 edition.

The manufacturing process for rubber sheave liners for cable cars follows directive 2009/09/EC and is certified by TÜV SÜD. In an SI interview, ISOPREN sales Director and Key Client Manager, sergio Donadeo, speaks about the rubber and the right products for cable cars in summer and winter use.
Si: What are the advantages of the material rubber in comparison with other materials?
Sergio Donadeo: Isopren compounds are produced with specific formulations based on sbr (styrene butadiene rubber) and they display unique elasticity and wear resistance properties. The use of sheave liners produced with our compounds guarantees passenger comfort and long service life. Indeed, the rubber compounds developed by ISOPREN offer both proof of these properties and, the resistance to heavy loads, that is typical of the latest generation of cable car systems (detachable and with ever-increasing capacity and speed).
Is the eponymous isoprene still in use today and what are the advantages of this hydrocarbon? “Isoprene” was the inspiration for our name, although it is actually not an hydrocarbon that we use. our diversified production uses ingredients, selected according to the operating conditions of the end product.
Our sheave liner production is based on sbr with the addition of other ingredients. This formulation has been designed by IsoPreN’s own state-of- the-art laboratory specifically for use in cable car systems; it is the result of 50 years of industry experience, havingpassed through other formulations in the pursuit of continuous improvement. Further experimentation remains ongoing to this day and further improvements are expected.
Where are the manufactured rubber rings, rotary blades etc. used? our sheave liners, which are produced in compliance with specific design and production requirements, can be fitted on all types of cable car systems (cablecars, ropeways, drag-lifts, chairlifts, aerial cable cars, fixed or detachable gondola lifts) in the mountains or even in cities (for passenger transport) and they are resistant to low winter temperatures and hot summer temperatures alike.
ISOPREN offers both antistatic (IS1101) and insulating (FMI982) products. What is the difference? The difference lies in the electrical conductivity of the material: IS1101 is an anti-static compound, whereas FMI982 is an insulator. In some cable car systems, the cable is used to transmitt electrical signals, and therefore requires electrical insulation. In other cases, the electrical conductivity serves as earthing.

From the numerous cable car system and mountain resorts we supply over a wide geographical area, we are able to state that ISOPREN sheave liners display their best performance in cold winter and hot summer temperatures. Notable extreme examples in Italy include the use of our liners at Livigno (sondrio Alps) in the winter and on Mount etna (sicily) in the summer.

Every delivery comes with our “user, maintenance and storage manual” sheets containing all the necessary instructions for storage, installation, use and control; No other maintenance is required.
