Bartholet: World record and new development

Quadruple success for BARTHOLET in Turkey.

In Turkey, cable car technology is currently undergoing a substantial upgrade. Four new systems should ensure greater comfort and faster connections in future, and BARTHOLET is clearly counting on quality from Switzerland for these projects.

The installation was particularly difficult owing to extreme weather conditions, demanding terrain and limited resources, which allowed the experienced experts a clear opportunity to demonstrate their class.

World record in Düziçi

The name Düziçi means “in the middle of the plain” and that is where a very special installation is currently in the final stage of construction. The 8-seater gondola cableway, which will open soon, sets a new world record: with an inclined length of 5682 metres, it represents the world’s longest single-cable circulating track for
eight people in a single section.

However, it is not only the length that is spectacular but also the outstanding topography that has been conquered. This has made the cable transport over the narrow streets a spectacular experience. With a negotiated altitude difference of 1,551 metres, the longest 8-seater single-cable circulating track has also achieved a second record.

However, the difficulty of the conditions during installation is worthwhile the first time you can enjoy the view. From above, you have an incredible long-distance view of Syria and the Mediterranean.

The southwest is taking off

With ideal wind conditions, Babadag mountain is the ideal starting point for paragliders. The beach at its foot serves as an optimum landing place at sea level.
The three successive new BARTHOLET installations act both as shuttles to the take-off points and as a means of transport for tourists visiting the mountain.

Starting from the valley at 226 metres above sea level, a 10-seater gondola cableway in two sections runs to 1,734 metres above sea level. Equipped with comfortable bench seats, the gondola – in the classic Spacecab design– allows passengers to cover an incline distance of 4,206 metres.

The gondola cableway is followed by two fixed 2-seater chairlifts, which run to the summit at the top. With the three new installations, users can choose between the various take-off points, depending on the weather conditions. This also strongly increases the attraction of the popular tourist region in southwest Turkey for visitors.

New development near Ankara

On New Year’s Eve, two BARTHOLET chairlifts entered into operation in the ski resort of Ilgaz, near Ankara. The weather conditions in the region are very
variable, so the installations have to withstand strong winds and freezing temperatures.

During the installation work, it was also demonstrated that such conditions pose a problem neither for the cableway nor for BARTHOLET employees. In the diverse contracts in Turkey, cableway manufacturer Bartholet was able to demonstrate once again that it is optimally equipped for all needs.
