Madrid unveils new cabins

The new cabins were presented at the Global Mobility Call in Madrid, where visitors could take a virtual reality ride offering a high-altitude view over the city.

The municipal transport company Empresa Municipal de Transportes (EMT) presented the new cabins of Madrid’s cable car at the Global Mobility Call in Madrid, an international trade fair dedicated to sustainable and connected mobility.

Visitors at the event were able to experience a virtual simulation inside a cabin, offering a preview of the unique route that runs 40 metres above the Casa de Campo park.

More space and a new perspective

The new system will feature 47 completely new cabins, each with a capacity of up to ten passengers.

The design is distinguished by large glass surfaces intended to maximize panoramic views of the city and Madrid’s largest urban park.

AI and Safety

In addition, the system will be equipped with modern technologies, including intelligent sensors in both the cabins and the support towers, designed to enhance active safety.

The use of artificial intelligence will also enable the analysis of passenger flow as well as a rapid alert system. Thanks to extensive connectivity, real-time operational data will be available at all times.
