Plose Cable Car: Bressanone advances planning

The Plose cable car project, which is planned to connect the Italian town of Bressanone with the Plose mountain range, is undergoing significant changes. The route over the town has been drastically reduced, and some originally planned sections have been dropped. Here are the details.

In Bressanone, South Tyrol, planners continue to work on the new cable car project to Plose, reports the news portal RaiNews.it.

A key aspect of the revised plan concerns the route over the town. According to Thomas Schraffl, the city’s mobility councillor, the flight path over the town has been reduced to a minimum.

The cable car line will no longer pass directly over the city. Instead, the route is planned to first head south, then fly over the Milland sports area, and from there continue up the mountain.

We come from the station heading south in the area of the sports zone. There are only a few individual houses there,” said Schraffl. Some overflight will remain, however, in the St. Andrä area.

The valley station is planned near Bressanone railway station, with the top station on Plose.

No intermediate station and underground section

For cost reasons, it was decided to abandon the originally planned underground first section of the cable car. The planned intermediate station at the parking lot of the Max nightclub will also not be built.

However, two intermediate stations are still planned: one in the Milland area and another at St. Andrä.

Tender schedule still unclear

The timeline for the tender of the Plose cable car is currently uncertain. According to Thomas Schraffl, a tender can only take place once financing is secured.

In Bressanone, we are trying to have the finished project ready in the drawer so that we can implement it immediately once financing becomes available,” said Schraffl.

For tourists and locals:

The new cable car could become both a new attraction for tourists and part of the city’s public transport system.

For Tourism and Transport

The new cable car to Plose is intended to serve multiple purposes. On one hand, it will provide a new attraction for tourists; on the other, locals will be able to use it as public transport. This will help significantly reduce traffic on the road up to Plose.
