Bandipur: Cable Car in test phase

The cable car constructed in the Nepali town of Bandipur, a tourist resort in Tanahun will be operational within a month and a half. According to the Bandipur Cable Car and Tourism Limited, the construction work has already been completed. Currently, the cable car is being tested.

The Bandipur cable car, which has a capacity of 500 passengers per hour, will operate daily in alternating shifts from 6:00 am to 11:00 pm. In addition, a cabin restaurant will operate from 17:00 to 23:00. A five-star hotel has been built along with the cable car.

The ropeway, which starts from Bandipur Rural Municipality-4 Thuldhunga, reaches Baralthok in the same district. In the process, the ropeway covers a distance of 1,6 kilometres. The operator expects to transport around 500 people per hour. Up to 1,000 people per hour would be possible.

The cable car, which starts from Thuldhungaswara, reaches the height of Bandipur via the Siddhagufa side. From the cable car, guests can even glimpse the Siddhagufa Cave in Bimalnagar, considered the largest in Asia.

The total project cost of the company is 3 billion and 49 million rupees (converted into euros about 34 million). An agreement has been reached to open the IPO for the public offering of ordinary shares of Cablecar Limited.

The investor company is a company composed of 1,100 investors living in Nepal and abroad.

RKD Real Estate and Construction Limited and Tourism Investment Fund Limited hold 61 per cent stake in the project, followed by 25 per cent of Panchase Cable Car and Tours Limited and 14 per cent of Bandipur Rural Municipality.

Commercial operation of the cable car is planned after the tests are completed and the TÜV certificate is obtained.
