Two bids for ropeway connectivity in Gorai (village in Mumbai)

In March last year, a tender was floated for the implementation of a ropeway route from Mahavir Nagar Metro Station (Link Road) to Pagoda to Gorai Village. Now the project seems to be getting off the ground.

As a result, the Mumbai Metropolitan Regional Development Authority (MMRDA) received two bids for the implementation of this project. The plan is to build a cable car about 7.2 kilometres long that would create an important link to Metro Line 2A for the residents of Gorai and Marve and thus significantly increase the locals’ range of movement.

According to MMRDA officials, the aerial transport system has been planned to be faster than the ferries currently operating on this route. The MMRDA plan would essentially connect Charkop metro station to Marve village and Mahavir Nagar metro station to Gorai pagoda and village.

While interest in the project was rather low in the beginning, the MMRDA officials are now happy to have two interested parties at the same time.
