Ujjain: urban cable car to the temple

Ujjain is one of the seven “holy cities” of India. The large city, with a population of 550,000, attracts a multitude of pilgrims thanks to the Mahakaleshwar Temple. Starting in the summer of 2026, a cable car will transport devotees from the railway station to the temple via an intermediate stop at the Triveni Museum. The engineering firms SALZMANN and BERNARD Group are supervising the project.

Zurich: Garaventa modernizes Rigiblick funicular

The Rigiblick funicular is not only a landmark of the Swiss metropolis of Zurich but also fully integrated into the public transport network of Verkehrsbetriebe Zürich (VBZ). On their behalf, the cable car manufacturer GARAVENTA, part of the DOPPELMAYR Group, has comprehensively modernized the more than 120-year-old line. The focus was on new, barrier-free vehicles, modern technology, and greater comfort for passengers.

"The market for urban cable cars in India is set to explode," promised Prashant Jain, Vice President of the Cable Car Division at the state-owned National Highway Logistics Management Limited (NHLML), at the leading global trade fair INTERALPIN in Innsbruck, Austria. Together with the overarching Ministry of Transport, NHLML presented India's ambitious development program for urban cable cars.
