Austrian companies plan cable car in India

In India, new plans for urban ropeways are in the pipeline, for which Austrian companies were invited to exchange ideas.

Union Minister Nitin Gadkari recently invited Austrian companies to set up cable car manufacturing plants and cable car components and equipment in India. Gadkari, Minister of Road Transport and Highways, met an Austrian delegation led by the Ambassador of the Republic of Austria in India, Katharina Wieser.

In this context, participants were informed that several ropeway projects are being implemented in India.

Gadkari also praised the high quality of cable car components and equipment manufactured by Austrian companies and underlined the cooperation in technology transfer and production of these facilities in India.

The meeting also saw an exchange of views on the latest technologies and innovations in the field of transport infrastructure development and green technologies. Representatives of Austrian companies briefed Gadkari on the various innovative technologies and products being manufactured by them.

Other potential areas of cooperation were also discussed, such as new technologies in highway construction, tunnel construction, electronic toll collection systems, intelligent transport systems, traffic management systems, green technologies, tunnel monitoring systems and road safety.

The meeting paved the way for strengthening India’s ongoing partnership and development cooperation with Austria to introduce innovations in the transport sector and develop effective solutions to the current challenges in transport and logistics.
