Hyderabad contemplating a cable car

Hyderabad (India) is drowning in congestion. Even the construction of an underground railway has made no difference here.

Now, the introduction of a new transport system is being considered, to put an end to the people’s traffic problems. UMTA (Unified Metropolitan Transport Authority) is currently investigating the option of an urban cable car in Hyderabad.

The present project plan includes three cable car lines, with an overall length of approx. 17 kilometres. The cable car will be used in those areas where underground and rail links are not feasible. Possible routes to consider would be from Nehru Zoological Park to MGBS (Mahatma Gandhi Bus Station) or from Khairatabad to the Secretariat. Moreover, a cable car route of around five kilometres from Raigiri to Yadadri Temple is also being investigated.
